JOB PURPOSE
To oversee all underwriting activities, compliance with the set underwriting processes, to ensure that the business accepted at the branch are within the set underwriting standards as stipulated in the underwriting manual and other underwriting related documents, circulars and directives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.
- Following up on Renewals to ensure Business Retention and ensure the terms provided by Actuarial Department and indicated in all management circulars are implemented.
- Key accounts Managements
- Assist in Intermediary Training and product education i.e agents/brokers/Banca & DSFs
- Assist the Underwriting manager in Implementing the business development plan
- Prepare and review quotations and tenders within Set timelines
- Follow up on quotations to close business and to get feedback
- Facilitate product presentations
- Assist in development and implementation of new products by sharing new ideas with Underwriting Manager.
- Daily servicing of clients to nurture the relationship between the company and our customers
- Ensure premium collections for business closed/Credit Control
- Follow up on Claims in liaison with claims department
- Liaise with internal audit/ risk and compliance Departments to ensure Compliance
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science or Business related.
- IIK or Progress towards IIK/ACII or equivalent
Experience:
- 8 years of underwriting or reinsurance experience in the General Business Division.
- Experience in handling Insurance Brokers, agents or Bancassurance & DSFs

KEY RESULT AREAS & PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Meet the new business & renewal target as agreed on an annual basis
- Ensure that all quotation requests are responded to within 48 hours
- Ensure that all confirmed business is debited within the month.
- Respond to intermediary service inquiry within 24 hours
- Daily servicing of clients to nurture the relationship between the company and our customers
- Intermediary training and entertainment as per the calendar of events
