Department: Business Development

Location: Head Office

Job Purpose

To drive bancassurance business growth by developing and managing business relationships, supporting underwriting activities, achieving sales targets, and delivering excellent service to bank partners and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quotations and renewal terms and follow up to achieve a minimum 85% renewal retention.
  • Drive new business acquisition through effective prospecting and relationship management.
  • Conduct product presentations and training for bank staff and clients.
  • Monitor business performance, including production, retention, product mix, credit control, and loss ratios, in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Provide day-to-day support to bank partners, including premium collection and customer service.
  • Coordinate claims registration and follow up with the Claims Department.
  • Participate in client meetings jointly with bank relationship teams.
  • Conduct risk assessments and liaise with Underwriting before policy placement.
  • Manage the bancassurance portfolio to achieve production, profitability, and debt management targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements by working closely with Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in insurance (IIK, ACII, or equivalent), or progress towards certification.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in general insurance business development and/or underwriting.
  • Experience working with insurance brokers, agents, or bancassurance channels is an added advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of general insurance products, underwriting principles, and claims processes.
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and resilient.
